Dave and I got married on April Fool’s Day in 2006.I was teaching so we decided to take a “staycation” right away at a nice hotel in Houston and then plan a proper honeymoon during the summer. This was around the time that Dave had a million Southwest airline points so we decided to fly somewhere Southwest flew.Dave trusted me to find a unique place!I researched different places and somehow was drawn to Park City,Utah. They are well known for their winter activities, but not so much for their summer activities.
We flew into Salt Lake City and rented a car to drive to Park City. One of the first things Dave wanted to do was put his hand in the Great Salt Lake!
I can honestly say this was one of my favorite vacations of all time!I have been fortunate to have traveled quite a bit, but Park City in the summer was FABOLOUS!!! The weather was beautiful (not too hot, not too cold). We went hiking several times.
We stayed at a great small boutique hotel called the Washington School Inn.It was a few streets over from the main street with all of the shops, restaurants, and night life.
We used the car a few times to go to an outlet mall and to go to the Olympic Park down the street.I loved how relaxing the vacation was.We didn’t have kids at the time, so we were able to read books during the day and just hang out.
A few years later we went with Christa, Brad, and our friends Tara and Lance skiing in Park City.We had a blast! We rented a VRBO condo that had ski in/ski out.We were also very close to the downtown main street.
Overall, I would highly recommend visiting Park City, Utah. I loved it during the winter, but think I loved it even more during the summer. There is nothing like walking to the middle of the town and taking the ski lift up the mountain for a hike and picnic lunch!
If you have been to Park City, Utah, what are places people should venture to?
