We all know that there are charities out there that are well known and therefore have an easier time fundraising. I know that St. Jude’s has always been a favorite charity of mine because you never know if your child will end up there.
What about the smaller charities that have missions that are just as wonderful as the big charities?
They have a harder time raising money.
As many of you know, Corrin and I have found a charity that we love called Dec My Room. Dec My Room goes into Texas Childrens, MD Anderson, Shriners Hospital, and other hospitals around the country and tries to brighten the hospital stay of children and young adults who have to be in the hospital for three weeks or longer. Volunteers go and decorate the rooms and try to brighten their days. I love this charity because you never know if it could be your child that would benefit from this charity. Even if you don’t live in Houston or some of the other cities, chances are that you may end up in Houston if your child is in need of our wonderful medical services.
Peter C. Remington founded Cheers 4 Charities in 2014 after going to several charity events and realizing that there are many smaller charities that do great things for kids but don’t have the fundraising abilities that bigger charities may have. He founded Cheers 4 Charity where four children’s charities are chosen to participate in an annual gala where they have an opportunity to raise money for their charity.

Dec My Room MISSION: To enhance the lives of children and young adults who are being admitted into a hospital for a prolonged amount of time. Volunteers personalize the hospital room soon after their arrival with items that complement the special likes and interest of the individual patient. These amenities are for their stay and theirs to take home when they leave.

Currently, Kids’ Meals delivers over 2,200 lunches per day during the school year, and over 3,500 in the summertime.”
