picmonkey-image-2If you are decorating on a budget, hands down the best bang for your buck is to paint.  Today’s blog was inspired by my recent kids’ playroom project.  We have lived in our house for 2 years and I have finally gotten sick of all the beige.

picmonkey-imageI knew I wanted to paint the kids’ playroom, but was not sure the color.  I am the WORST at making decisions and trying to decide what we can live with for the next few years. I went on Facebook and asked for opinions and then looked for inspiration pictures.

picmonkey-image-3Ultimately I decided to go with a lighter shade of blue.  I moved the white ikea bookshelf out of the girls’ room and placed it in the extra space outside of their room.  I wanted to create a reading area for the kids to choose books and relax and read.  I found a couple of cute bean bag chairs from Target.

picmonkey-image-4I found the paint at Sherwin Williams when it was on sale and hired an inexpensive painter.  I used to do all my own painting, but would inevitably screw up by pouring paint on the carpet or going outside of the lines. My painter charges about $200 a room plus paint.  For me it is worth paying a professional instead of having to fix my mistakes.

picmonkey-image-5I was VERY PLEASED with how the game room/planning area turned out.  Christa found a rug on overstock.com to tie the room together.  I LOVE this rug!!! It is so thick and plush.  I paid $220 and overstock said it retailed for $1000.
